27 January 2013

Hello Everyone

Oh dear, it has been a few weeks since we last posted a blog but time just flies by and we need to catch up.

We have had so much weather thrown at us over the past 7 days alone we have had to carry both snow shovel and wellies around in the boot of the car!  Last Friday we decided that if we were going to visit Morag's mummy we would have to go on Friday and definitely be back on Saturday due to the weather forecast and we are very glad we did!  There was lots of snow from about 8 miles east of Penrith all the way to York and back.  When we got up on Saturday morning there had been even more snow so we decided we would travel back to Cumbria in the daylight and even then there was snow blowing across the A66 but our little car Noddy got us home safe and sound. We have had quite a bit of snow where we live but none at the salon and it is only about 8 miles from where we live.  Yesterday the rain came along so now we have to cope with flooded roads again!  Where will it all end?

We have decided to post a photo of Daisy today in the back garden and, as you can see, the snow came up to her tummy!  Martini suffers the most in the snow because he has extra fluffy legs and the snow sticks to him in big clumps.  We felt so sorry for him on our first walk on Saturday last week he had a coat on because it was so cold but there was so much snow  stuck to one of his legs we couldn't get his leg out of the coat!  Poor Martini he was so upset getting the snow pulled off his legs we had to give him extra cuddles.

We hope everyone keeps nice and warm and lets keep our fingers and paws crossed for some nice sunshine and milder temperatures!

1 January 2013 - Yappy New Year

Yappy New Year Everyone!

We would like to wish all our four legged friends and their families a very Yappy New Year for 2013!  We hope you have not indulged too much over the festive period but if you have then  you will have to go on some extra walks to burn off any excess treats!

We have posted a lovely photo of Martini and Daisy which was used on our Christmas cards and was taken by Joanne Caffrey at the portrait sitting held back in October.  Joanne really caught Martini and Daisy in a great pose with the Christmas pudding - which wasn't a real  one of course as Daisy would have tried to eat it bless her|! Everyone commented on how lovely the cards were and we will definitely order more next Christmas too.

Now that we have started 2013, on reflection, what a ride 2012 turned out to be!  We moved house twice, had to move the salon at very short notice and Morag's mummy moved house as well so it was certainly a busy time for us packing and unpacking.  Unfortunately, Morag's mummy broke her hip on 1 December on an icy pavement so we spent a lot of time on the road visiting her in hospital in York and, now she is back at home, also going back and forth to help with shopping, cleaning etc because she can't walk but all four of us still managed to have a great Christmas.

Who knows what 2013 will bring for all of us but we wish everyone good health and much happiness (and, not forgetting, some better weather too)!

24 December 2012 - Yappy Christmas!

Hello Everyone

We will have to start with apologies for being several weeks behind with our blog but unfortunately Morag's mummy broke her hip and so we have spent all our spare time going back and forward to York!  Morag's mummy is now at home but will not be able to walk for some time to come and needs care and our help with shopping etc.

We can't believe another year has zoomed past so quickly and we will post a blog with our year in review for New Year.

We did want to wish everyone a very Yappy Christmas of course and we hope that all our little (and not so little) four legged friends will enjoy a Christmas full of fun, warmth and not too much to eat!

We have posted a video of Skye who always "sings" when we try to take her photo for our Facebook page (which you can get to through our website www.doggydoos.org and just press the blue paw).  We haven't been able to upload it yet onto FB but we thought we would share Skye's Christmas Carol here on our blog in the meantime.

12 November 2012

Hello Everyone

We hope all our four legged friends have coped with all the fireworks last week - Martini and Daisy gave the odd growl but did manage quite well.

Yesterday, we thought it would be a lovely day for a trip to Bridlington Beach.  We phoned Morag's mummy quite early (for a Sunday morning) and said the weather seemed to lend itself to a nice day to go to the beach so we all jumped in the car and drove to York to collect her.  After a quick cup of tea, we set off for the beach.  We had wall-to-wall blue skies so it was perfect weather and Martini and Daisy were delighted to find themselves at the seaside.  Martini made lots of new friends and rolled around in the sand while Daisy enjoyed the beach at a more leisurely pace.  We have featured a photo of Daisy today as we thought it was such a nice photo of her on the beach.  After fish and chips at the cafe on the beach front we set off back to York.  We all had a lovely time and it makes a lovely change from all the rain we have had in Cumbria so well worth the trip.

By popular request, we have one final photo sitting day before Christmas!  Joanne will be taking photos on Saturday, 1st December - please remember you will need to book a time slot for your sitting and can book for yourself, dog, children or family and friends.  Please book your 30 minute slot through the salon on 07785 536088 and, at time of writing, there are only a few slots left.

The salon will be closed all day on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th December due to family commitments.  You can leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused and the salon will be open as usual on Monday, Thursday and Friday that week.

28 October 2012 - Yappy Howloeen!

Yappy Howloeen Everyone

Yesterday we had a fabulous time at the portrait sitting held at the salon.  We left home very early to go to the salon and Martini and Daisy were bathed and dried because they were going to have their photos taken too. Today we have posted a photo of Tini Bear posing - there are some really nice ones of Martini and Daisy together so we need to pick one to make some nice Christmas cards this year.  We are very pleased to say that we have managed to book Joanne (Joanne Caffrey Photography) for another Saturday before Christmas as there were a few people who really wanted to come along yesterday but for one reason or another couldn't make it.  The next date is Saturday, 1st December although any order placed for Christmas items will need to be made by Wednesday, 5th December at the latest to avoid disappointment.  The free portrait sittings are 30 minute time slots and you do need to book so that you have the salon to yourself for photos with no waiting.  Slots are booked through the salon on 07785 536088.

This coming week sees Halloween on Wednesday.  We have some very nice Halloween bows for the doggies coming to the salon this week as a special treat and we hope all our four legged furry friends are not too scared!

14 October 2012

Hello Everyone

We have had a busy weekend.  After we closed the salon on Friday, Morag went to a quiz night in support of Ellen Valley Riding Club and Martini and Daisy went to the farm for the evening.  Then we all went to visit Morag's mummy in York on Saturday and had a lovely time.  Today we had a few local walks around the village and although it was cold the sun was shining for us.  We didn't take our camera with us on our walks but we have posted a photo of Martini protecting his Pink Pig toy.  Technically, its not even Martini's toy as it was given to Daisy last Christmas and, those who are familiar with this blog will know, Daisy only ever plays with Santa Bear.  On Friday evening Daisy got so excited of the prospect of supper being served that she started playing with Pink Pig much to Martini's disgust.  Ever since, Martini has kept Pink Pig very close or, as you can see in the photo, use Pink Pig as a pillow.

We just wanted to give everyone a quick reminder of the free portrait sitting on Saturday 27th October at the salon with Joanne Caffrey.  Joanne has given us some examples of Christmas cards she can produce with the photos and these are on display in the salon.  There are also examples of personalised calendars, shopping bags, coasters and mugs that will impress family and friends.  There are a couple of slots left and you can book your slot through the salon on 07785 536088.

30 September 2012

Hello Everyone

We have had enough rain to sink a battleship during last night and most of today here in Cumbria.  Our village feels like an island and we have to take long detours to get anywhere.  The rain has lashed down so we decided to spend the rest of the day having a quiet afternoon at home and have finally been able to go out for a walk without getting soaking wet.  Poor Martini and Daisy are quite close to the ground already so they look like a proper pair of mucky pups .  We had a walk down to the River Ellen around 4pm and couldn't believe how deep the river was but at least the sun has eventually come out.  We didn't take any photos today so we thought we would share another photo from our weekend away to celebrate Morag's yappy birthday.  This photo was taken at Castle Howard in North Yorkshire and although a few photos were taken both Martini and Daisy wouldn't look at the camera at the same time.  It is a magnificent building with beautiful gardens (so lots of nice walks) and, although doggies have to stay on their leads at all times, we really enjoyed our visit there.

We have had an all round successful week and now, through the magic of modern technology, we have mobile phone signal at home through our internet connection which is very exciting.  This coming week is proving to be busy and, of course, we have the Canine First Aid Awareness course being held on Thursday evening at the salon.  There are still a couple of places remaining so if you would like to book on the course please book through the salon as it is very worthwhile.

We hope the sun is shining wherever you are today.
