Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

We have been busy this week putting together the prizes for the Christmas raffle. We are also having a Christmas Photo Competition and there will be a gift basket for the best boy and best girl photos - we will post a photo of the prizes in the next few weeks. The competition is free to enter but you will need to bring to the salon a Christmas or seasonal theme photo of your dog. The photo competition prize gift baskets include a bling collar, collar charm, grooming bow and toy all in a cute paw print keepsake box - good luck to everyone who enters the competition. The photos will be displayed from 1 October and they will be judged by Ann Nixon on Friday, 16 December - so plenty of time to collect your prize in time for Christmas. The tickets for the Christmas raffle will be on sale from 1 October and will be drawn on Saturday, 17 December. There are some great prizes including a salon gift voucher and a toy gift basket crammed with toys! Good luck to everyone who buys a ticket.

We would like to wish Morag's niece Kennedy, who lives in Texas, a very yappy birthday on Tuesday - Yappy 15th Birthday Kennedy!

Today we went for a walk at Whinlatter Forest (in the Lake District if you are reading this and not in the UK). We walked much further than we usually walk and both Martini and Daisy have slept since we got home! We had a lovely time and the weather was lovely and sunny although a little chilly - brrrr Autumn is definitely here! We have posted a photo from our walk at Whinlatter today although there was so much to do and see it was nearly impossible to get Martini and Daisy to stand together for the photo.

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

It is Morag's Yappy Birthday today so the salon is closed for the day! We have posted another photo from our weekend away in Scotland - today features Martini and his friend Hamish. Hamish is at least twice the size of Martini and although Martini is very wary of big dogs he seemed to like running around the beach with Hamish. Hamish is only 10 months old and seemed to love Martini.

We were going to go for a special walk today to Ennerdale in the Lake District but unfortunately there has been very heavy rain here in Cumbria. We will go to our quiet road so Martini and Daisy can enjoy a walk off the lead. Hope the weather is better wherever you are!

We have created a page on Facebook and have posted a couple of photos. We thought we would post our fun photos there - so far we have posted a photo of Martini in his footie shirt and one of 6 month old Poppy with her new raincoat. Poppy came to the salon this week for her first haircut.

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

We have just returned from a weekend away in Gairloch. Having watched the weather forecast closely from Monday last week, it was only on Friday morning that the forecast for North West Scotland was going to be a lot better than Cumbria. So off we went to Gairloch and, although we have been there before, the beach is outstanding and worth the long drive. Martini and Daisy clearly love beach holidays, they had so much fun mooching about, running around and making new friends. We have a few photos and will post them in future blogs; today's photo shows Daisy stretching out after a good run around on the beach.

We also went to see Dry Island at Badachro - the only access is either by boat or by a floating bridge. So we went to the bridge for a look-see but after inspection we decided not to cross by foot - Daisy gets in a state crossing a fixed bridge so we thought a floating bridge would be a "bridge too far" for her and we didn't want to end up in the loch!

Our journey back was quite a bit longer than we had planned as we were stuck behind an horrific accident on the A87 - 5 people were hospitalised after two cars crashed and caught fire on an extremely tight bend in the road. Fortunately, the crash barrier kept the cars from going over the edge.

Hope you all had a great weekend - we had a fabulous time with equally fabulous weather.

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

We are posting an extra blog this week as we found out who put the fridge magnet in our letterbox today - so thank you!

It is still extremely windy here in Cumbria as we have the tail end of Hurricane Katia passing through - an HGV was blown over on the motorway due to high winds. Anyway, when we went for a lunchtime walk Morag took a photo of Tini Bear on her phone to show you just how windy it is if you are fluffy with long ears and tail - he looks quite funny walking into the wind. Perhaps we should have taken a photo showing the consequences of a tail wind instead!

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

Here in Cumbria we have had a lot of rain and its is very windy. In our attempts to go for a walk today we have experienced heavy rain and have nearly been blown away - mostly happening at the same time so we have ended up just dashing out to the garden so not much fun. We have an apple tree in our garden so when the wind is really blowing don't stand under the tree as it is possible to be hit by falling apples!

We would like to wish Archie (Shih Tzu) a very yappy birthday for 3 September! We would also like to wish Beau (Coco's mummy) a very yappy birthday this coming week.

Whilst we were out of the salon on Wednesday someone put a fridge magnet through our letterbox. This may not sound unusual but the magnet has a photo of Martini and Daisy at Mawbray from our Dog Blog of 24 July - there was no note attached so we do not know who put this in our letterbox. Please email us at doggydoossalon@aol.com to let us know who you are so we can say thank you.

We have posted a photo of Daisy today - fast asleep in Martini's bed!

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

Just where does the time go - it is already 5 September and it feels like yesterday when we enjoyed the Pawparazzi Day on 9 July!

The weather here in Cumbria is very changeable to say the least. We have had sunshine and showers for a few days with more to come according to the forecast. This afternoon, when Max (Border Collie) was in the salon, the rain came down so hard we thought it was hail stones. Morag got soaked as she had to go out in this very heavy rain because Martini and Daisy have to sit in the car when Max comes to the salon and the windows of the car were open!

We decided to go to Silloth yesterday afternoon for a walk as it is always lovely to walk along the coast. We are posting a photo of Martini and Daisy on the grassy section near the lighthouse and you can see Scotland on the other side of the Solway in the background of the photo.

The local schools go back for the Autumn term next week so we hope all the children have had a lovely Summer holiday.
