Hello Everyone

We are back home again after house-sitting for our friends during the last week at a lovely house near Cockermouth.  We looked after 3 dogs, 3 cats and lots of chickens - Martini and Daisy got on well with the other dogs and cats but really wanted to get a lot closer to the chickens.  Fortunately, our lessons at dog club have really paid off and they could be stopped from chasing with one word "wait" and they just stand still!  We definitely wanted to keep the head count absolutely correct for the family coming home from their skiing trip!  We had a fabulous time and had lots of fun but it was a busy week with the salon too.  We haven't been anywhere special today for a walk as we were catching up on our housework and washing but we have posted a photo of Martini on one of our little walks from the house on our quiet road. We are so lucky to live on such a nice quiet road as it means Martini and Daisy can be off their leads more - which they obviously enjoy.

This week we hope to start painting at the salon just to smarten the place up a bit and hopefully, it won't take too long to do.  There are always so many things to move around when painting but the new salon has a lot more windows than before which means less walls to paint!

Hello Everyone

The salon has been very busy during the last week and is shaping up to be busy this week too.  We still need to decorate the new premises but we also still have things in boxes at our new house!  Martini has really settled into the new house now.  He seems to be right at home and still enjoys sitting on the back of the sofa watching the world go by.  Our new house is on a quiet road with lots of people walking their dogs purely for Martini's entertainment (or so he thinks).

It has been very cold here in Cumbria this weekend and we had some snow on Saturday but it didn't last long.  Today was wall to wall sunshine (although still cold) so we thought we would post a photo of Daisy at our friend's house - they really do have a magnificent view of Skiddaw!

Thank you to everyone who gave us house-warming gifts - our plants are flowering now and hopefully this means Spring is just around the corner.

12 February 2012

Hello Everyone

We didn't write our blog last week as we have been so very busy.  Not content with moving house, we were then given 3 weeks notice on our salon premises so had to move the salon too!  Having had a look at several options for relocating the salon, we decided (and were lucky enough) to move back to where we started at Woodside Farm, West Woodside.  We moved from there just over 2 years ago to the Mealsgate premises so it is a little bit like going home.  We are up and running although this has involved a lot of work.  We want to say a very big THANK YOU to our friends John, Ann and Elizabeth who helped us enormously by storing the salon equipment, moving it and put together a bath when the one that had been ordered arrived incomplete!  Without their generous help and support we wouldn't have been able to open on time.  There is, of course, still lots of work to do (like decorating etc) but that will all get done in the very near future.  It has been so lovely seeing our regulars again from Thursday - we have put photos on our Facebook page so you can see who had appointments.

Martini and Daisy seemed to have settled into our new house.  Daisy took it all in her stride and Martini was very upset with the move but has now gotten used to his new surroundings.  Today we have posted a photo of Daisy making herself comfy amongst the cushions - as long as Daisy has cushions to snuggle into she will make it "home".

We hope everyone has managed to stay nice and snug in the very cold weather - Cumbria seems to have gotten off lightly with snowfall.  It has been very icy though and we sent a text to all the people who had appointments on Thursday as the car park outside the salon was like a skating rink - we went for a bit of a slide sideways!
