Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

Did you remember to change your clocks this morning? We managed to have a confused couple of hours where the kitchen clock was showing the wrong time.

It has been a lovely day here in Cumbria for outdoor pursuits so with that in mind we went to Thirlmere for a walk. We normally walk on the road on the quiet side of the lake but we noticed that the lake path seems to have been cleared and flattened a bit. We decided to take the lake path so Martini and Daisy could walk off their leads for more stop and sniff enjoyment. We really wished we had taken the camera though as there were lots of photo opportunities in the sunshine. Apart from a little footbridge that Daisy didn't want to walk across, we all had great time.

As we forgot the camera on our day out, we have posted a photo of Martini routing around in the toy box - a couple of days ago he actually got in the toy box during his search (again, we didn't have the camera to hand!

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

We have a few more Yappy Birthdays to do for March. First of all, we would like to wish Holly Whitson a very yappy birthday - Holly was the very first client of the salon and was in the salon yesterday for her haircut. Ozzie's first birthday was on 3rd March and a very yappy birthday to Rocco who is also one in March too! We would also to take the opportunity to wish one of our Mealsgate neighbours, Gillian Marr, yappy birthday - Gillian's birthday is tomorrow and she will be approximately 11 years old in dog years!

We have posted a photo of Daisy and Martini in our neighbour's garden which was taken in the sunshine today. Daisy loves to mooch around the garden and likes nothing better than to sit in the sun for a spot of sunbathing. We hope you like the photo.

Hello again from Morag, Martini and Daisy

We just thought we would update everyone about Daisy today. Daisy went first thing this morning to the vet to have the wire removed from her jaw. She had an x-ray first and her jaw had healed so the wire was removed - thank goodness! Morag went to collect Daisy at 2 o'clock and she was still very sleepy and anxious but she seems fine. In true Daisy style, the first thing she wanted when she got home was some food as she does love to eat. Since then she has been sleepy so we have posted a photo of her dozing on the sofa on her favourite cushion. Her tongue does hang out the side of her mouth from the lack of any teeth to hold it in but hopefully Daisy will have no further problems. Thank you to everyone who has asked after Daisy as she is such a sweet little dog!

On a completely different subject, we have been asking everyone who has been to the salon in the last couple of weeks to sign our petition. The salon is located just off the B5299 (and we live on that road too) which has a speed limit of 30mph. Unfortunately, we have concealed driveways and to get out of the drive we cannot see the bridge but we can see the traffic approaching from the A595. The people across the road have the same problem as us but the other way round in that they can see the bridge but not the approach from the A595. We have lots of near misses and several parked cars have been hit so we would like to make everyone aware of the speed limit and try to get better signage. If you haven't signed the petition in the salon please could you take a few minutes to visit www.mealsgateroadsafetycampaign.co.uk and sign our petition online - we, and all our neighbours, would really appreciate it.

Hello from Morag, Martini and Daisy

First of all we would like to mention a few birthdays. Yappy Birthday to Honey (Labradoodle) who was 2 on 3 March and Macauley (Westie) who was 11 on 11 March. Macauley shares a birthday with Morag's mummy who was 14 (in dog years of course!) also on 11 March. We don't want to forget our neighbour Cynthia who was 11 (also in dog years as we will be in trouble if we mention her age in human years) on 9 March - Yappy Birthday Cynthia.

Daisy is going to have the operation to remove the wire in her jaw tomorrow (depending on whether the x-ray shows her jaw has healed). Daisy has had a haircut and now looks like a little lamb again. Daisy has to go to the vet first thing in the morning and of course can't have anything to eat before the operation. Morag and Martini will also not be able to have any breakfast either because it would be mean of them to sit and eat when Daisy can't have anything. We will be crossing our fingers and plaiting our hair that all goes well for Daisy tomorrow. We have posted a photo of little Daisy where her one and only tooth is showing.

Hello Everyone from Morag, Martini and Daisy

Today is 1 March and February seems to have disappeared quickly which makes us a little behind with our blogs. It is a lovely sunny day in Cumbria today. We have been out playing in the garden and we have daffodils coming up which is amazing after the extremely cold winter we just had. We went to Silloth a couple of days ago for a walk along the front. It has been a while since we went there but of course we couldn't take Daisy on that sort of walk since the operation. It was lovely and sunny although it was also pretty nippy in the wind but we all enjoyed ourselves anyway.

As you can see from the photo of Daisy she still hasn't been able to have a haircut because of her fractured jaw and now looks like a minature Yeti! As Daisy's hair has always been kept short so we think she is feeling a bit overheated occasionally. Morag did trim Daisy's fringe and has been keeping up with the matts though. Daisy will probably have her hair cut in the next week as we are off to see the vet next Monday. We think she is well enough to have her haircut but she still won't be bathed until she has fully recovered from the next operation (if the wire is removed at that operation). Daisy has the amazing ability to keep herself clean and tidy unlike Martini who can look like a ragamuffin ten minutes after his full appointment! Hopefully, we are nearly at the end of the road with Daisy's fractured jaw as we just want her to be completely well again. Thank you again to everyone who has asked after Daisy.
