24 December 2012 - Yappy Christmas!

Hello Everyone

We will have to start with apologies for being several weeks behind with our blog but unfortunately Morag's mummy broke her hip and so we have spent all our spare time going back and forward to York!  Morag's mummy is now at home but will not be able to walk for some time to come and needs care and our help with shopping etc.

We can't believe another year has zoomed past so quickly and we will post a blog with our year in review for New Year.

We did want to wish everyone a very Yappy Christmas of course and we hope that all our little (and not so little) four legged friends will enjoy a Christmas full of fun, warmth and not too much to eat!

We have posted a video of Skye who always "sings" when we try to take her photo for our Facebook page (which you can get to through our website www.doggydoos.org and just press the blue paw).  We haven't been able to upload it yet onto FB but we thought we would share Skye's Christmas Carol here on our blog in the meantime.

12 November 2012

Hello Everyone

We hope all our four legged friends have coped with all the fireworks last week - Martini and Daisy gave the odd growl but did manage quite well.

Yesterday, we thought it would be a lovely day for a trip to Bridlington Beach.  We phoned Morag's mummy quite early (for a Sunday morning) and said the weather seemed to lend itself to a nice day to go to the beach so we all jumped in the car and drove to York to collect her.  After a quick cup of tea, we set off for the beach.  We had wall-to-wall blue skies so it was perfect weather and Martini and Daisy were delighted to find themselves at the seaside.  Martini made lots of new friends and rolled around in the sand while Daisy enjoyed the beach at a more leisurely pace.  We have featured a photo of Daisy today as we thought it was such a nice photo of her on the beach.  After fish and chips at the cafe on the beach front we set off back to York.  We all had a lovely time and it makes a lovely change from all the rain we have had in Cumbria so well worth the trip.

By popular request, we have one final photo sitting day before Christmas!  Joanne will be taking photos on Saturday, 1st December - please remember you will need to book a time slot for your sitting and can book for yourself, dog, children or family and friends.  Please book your 30 minute slot through the salon on 07785 536088 and, at time of writing, there are only a few slots left.

The salon will be closed all day on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th December due to family commitments.  You can leave a message and your call will be returned as soon as possible.  Apologies for any inconvenience caused and the salon will be open as usual on Monday, Thursday and Friday that week.

28 October 2012 - Yappy Howloeen!

Yappy Howloeen Everyone

Yesterday we had a fabulous time at the portrait sitting held at the salon.  We left home very early to go to the salon and Martini and Daisy were bathed and dried because they were going to have their photos taken too. Today we have posted a photo of Tini Bear posing - there are some really nice ones of Martini and Daisy together so we need to pick one to make some nice Christmas cards this year.  We are very pleased to say that we have managed to book Joanne (Joanne Caffrey Photography) for another Saturday before Christmas as there were a few people who really wanted to come along yesterday but for one reason or another couldn't make it.  The next date is Saturday, 1st December although any order placed for Christmas items will need to be made by Wednesday, 5th December at the latest to avoid disappointment.  The free portrait sittings are 30 minute time slots and you do need to book so that you have the salon to yourself for photos with no waiting.  Slots are booked through the salon on 07785 536088.

This coming week sees Halloween on Wednesday.  We have some very nice Halloween bows for the doggies coming to the salon this week as a special treat and we hope all our four legged furry friends are not too scared!

Hello Everyone

We have had a busy weekend.  After we closed the salon on Friday, Morag went to a quiz night in support of Ellen Valley Riding Club and Martini and Daisy went to the farm for the evening.  Then we all went to visit Morag's mummy in York on Saturday and had a lovely time.  Today we had a few local walks around the village and although it was cold the sun was shining for us.  We didn't take our camera with us on our walks but we have posted a photo of Martini protecting his Pink Pig toy.  Technically, its not even Martini's toy as it was given to Daisy last Christmas and, those who are familiar with this blog will know, Daisy only ever plays with Santa Bear.  On Friday evening Daisy got so excited of the prospect of supper being served that she started playing with Pink Pig much to Martini's disgust.  Ever since, Martini has kept Pink Pig very close or, as you can see in the photo, use Pink Pig as a pillow.

We just wanted to give everyone a quick reminder of the free portrait sitting on Saturday 27th October at the salon with Joanne Caffrey.  Joanne has given us some examples of Christmas cards she can produce with the photos and these are on display in the salon.  There are also examples of personalised calendars, shopping bags, coasters and mugs that will impress family and friends.  There are a couple of slots left and you can book your slot through the salon on 07785 536088.

Hello Everyone

We have had enough rain to sink a battleship during last night and most of today here in Cumbria.  Our village feels like an island and we have to take long detours to get anywhere.  The rain has lashed down so we decided to spend the rest of the day having a quiet afternoon at home and have finally been able to go out for a walk without getting soaking wet.  Poor Martini and Daisy are quite close to the ground already so they look like a proper pair of mucky pups .  We had a walk down to the River Ellen around 4pm and couldn't believe how deep the river was but at least the sun has eventually come out.  We didn't take any photos today so we thought we would share another photo from our weekend away to celebrate Morag's yappy birthday.  This photo was taken at Castle Howard in North Yorkshire and although a few photos were taken both Martini and Daisy wouldn't look at the camera at the same time.  It is a magnificent building with beautiful gardens (so lots of nice walks) and, although doggies have to stay on their leads at all times, we really enjoyed our visit there.

We have had an all round successful week and now, through the magic of modern technology, we have mobile phone signal at home through our internet connection which is very exciting.  This coming week is proving to be busy and, of course, we have the Canine First Aid Awareness course being held on Thursday evening at the salon.  There are still a couple of places remaining so if you would like to book on the course please book through the salon as it is very worthwhile.

We hope the sun is shining wherever you are today.

Hello Everyone

We have been away for a long weekend to Morag's mummy in York as it was Morag's Yappy Birthday on Friday.  We closed the salon from Friday until today and we have had a fabulous time.  On Saturday, we spent the day at Scarborough and Bridlington - both have great beaches where Martini and Daisy had a good old game of chase and although it wasn't paddling weather we had fantastic sunshine all day.  On Sunday, we went to Castle Howard - what a magnificent house and gardens - poor Martini and Daisy did about a month's worth of walking in one day as they are still tired today!  Again, we were blessed with very nice weather until late in the afternoon when dark clouds appeared.  We are back home in Cumbria after a terrific weekend away and we have posted a photo of all three of us on Bridlington Beach.

The next event will be a Canine First Aid Awareness Course to be held at the salon on Thursday, 4th October between 6pm and 9pm - at the time of writing there are a couple of places left so if you would like to attend please contact the salon on 07785 536088 or send an email to doggydoossalon@aol.com.  The instructor is HSE, Local Authority and Home Office approved and the course costs £30 which is great value for money.

We have very heavy rain here in Cumbria today and there is flooding on the roads around our village; we thought we might have needed a boat to get home but Noddy didn't let us down and got us home safely today.

13 September 2012

Hello Everyone

We are very behind with our post this week so apologies for the delay!  We have had a very busy week and kept putting off adding our blog with the thought we will definitely post tomorrow and suddenly it's Thursday already!  Sunday turned into a very busy day but we did have a lovely walk in the morning to the nearby River Ellen.  We have posted a photo of Martini and Daisy down by the river having a very good sniff around - with all the rain we have had recently we sometimes can't get anywhere near where they are standing.  Although it was lovely and sunny at the time, there are a lot of trees at that spot making it very shady but it is such a nice walk for Martini and Daisy where they can both be off of their leads.

Just a little reminder that the salon will be closed next week on Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Monday 24th September.  If you try to get in touch during those days, please leave a message on the phone or send a text and we will get back to you just as soon as we can.

There will be another free photo sitting with Joanne Caffrey on Saturday, 27th October and this will be the final session before Christmas in order to have any personalised gifts ready in time for the big day.  If you want to book a sitting, please contact the salon to arrange for your free half hour.

It has suddenly turned very chilly here in Cumbria so we hope the weather is warmer wherever you are!

Hello Everyone

Yet again we are a day behind with our blog although our excuse for not posting yesterday is that we have had a very busy weekend.  We had a photo session day at the salon on Saturday  where you get a 30 minute free sitting with photographer Joanne Caffrey for either a portrait of yourself, family or dog or all together and it is always busy on the photo shoot days.  All the dogs who came along for their portraits were beautifully behaved and a couple of really big dogs who were first in were able to sit a bit longer with encouragement from our trusty biscuit treats!  The photos were on the www.yourshoot.co.uk site yesterday and we must say the photos are brilliant - Martini and Daisy also had their photos taken for some test shots and (with Joanne's permission) we have posted a cute photo of Daisy today.  We are going to have another photo day on 27th October so we will definitely make sure Martini and Daisy look their best on the day as we are also going to have some photos taken for Christmas this year.  It will be the last photo day before Christmas so remember to book a slot if you would like a sitting on that day too.

Another event taking place at the salon is a Canine First Aid Awareness course on 4th October between 6pm and 9pm.  The course is lead by a fully qualified instructor who is HSE, Local Authority and Home Office approved.  The course has proven to be popular and there are currently only a few places left now so if you would like to come along please book via the salon on 07785 536088.

Our weather seems to have cheered up a bit and we have had some lovely walks at long last.  It is never much fun when we try and have a decent walk in the pouring rain especially when you are as fluffy as Martini - he often looks like he is wearing black boots by the time he gets home!

27 August 2012

Hello Everyone

If you are reading this and not in the UK it is a public holiday here today.  It feels a bit like a Sunday and we are having a very quiet day.  The weather is not good - wet and windy all day so far and poor Martini and Daisy are sick of getting dried when we have been out for our walks.  We should have taken a photo yesterday as we were out in the sunshine and went for a lovely walk towards Sandale around 5pm but as we have no mobile phone signal in our village Morag didn't take the trusty phone to take any photos.  Note to Morag - remember to take the phone for photo opportunities.  Talking of photos, there is a free sitting this coming weekend (1st September) with photographer Joanne Caffrey at the salon.  You would need to book a 30 minute slot and there are two slots left so get in touch if you would like your portrait, or one of you dog(s) or family members.

For a long weekend the weather hasn't been terrific but we hope the people who went to Solfest this weekend managed to enjoy themselves and it wasn't too muddy.  Solfest is a local music festival held at Tarnside Farm and we know some of our former neighbours from Mealsgate go every year.  We know they took their wellies and they would have needed them today no doubt! Martini often looks like he is wearing wellies when he gets really wet as his legs are so fluffy.  We have posted a photo of two bedraggled little poochies (aka Martini and Daisy) which was taken a few minutes ago.  Martini's ears start to ringlet when he is so wet and poor Daisy looks sorry for herself but they were very happy to go out for a walk rain and all.

We hope the weather is better wherever you are!

13 August 2012 - Yappy Birthday Martini

Hello Everyone

It is Martini's birthday and he is 6 years old today so have a very Yappy Birthday Martini!  We have posted one of our very favourite photos of Martini because it is his special day and we think he looks like a supermodel.

We are still unable to post on Sundays as we still don't have broadband at home but the exciting news is that an engineer is coming to our house tomorrow to finally have a look and see what the problem is.  Fingers crossed everyone our broadband will be fixed tomorrow at long last!  Thank you so much to our neighbour James who has been kind enough to let us use his broadband in the meantime.

We had a very busy week last week and some of our website models came to get their hair done on Saturday.  All seven sisters came along so Saturday was very busy and very noisy at times. Five of them are on the home page (posing in the bath) of our website www.doggydoos.org.  We had little Coco Chanel on her own once they had been collected and it seemed very quiet suddenly.

We hope everyone has enjoyed the Olympics as much as we have - we thought the coverage was excellent and really enjoyed the interviews with the winners and (sometimes) the losers.  Team GB did so well to come third in the overall standings - Dream Team GB!

6 August 2012 - Stair Gate

Hello Everyone

We are a day behind with our blog as we still don't have internet access at our new house but the internet provider is "looking into it" so we will just have to patiently wait for it to be sorted out.  We are lucky enough to have internet access at the salon courtesy of Cumbria Computer Consultants who let us use their broadband - thank you James!

In the meantime, we would like to give a big bow wow THANK YOU to our dear friends John, Elizabeth and Ann for helping us move last weekend and Elizabeth very kindly brought us a picnic too!

We have called this blog Stair Gate - as in Water Gate - as there was a mystery surrounding the opening of the stair gate.  Very occasionally, Martini and Daisy have to stay at home and in our new house the whole of the downstairs is a very large kitchen and utility room.  The stairs leading to the lounge and bedrooms has a stair gate.  The first time Morag went out she thought she had closed the stair gate but it was open on her return.  The second time she went out she double checked it was locked but on her return it was open again.  Well two little naughty dogs (aka Martini and Daisy) have worked out how to open the stair gate so it is child proof but not doggy proof! Today, we have posted a photo of Martini looking a bit guilty sitting behind the closed gate and not only can he open the gate, it has been discovered that he can even crawl under it!

We have had torrential rain here in Cumbria so we hope the sun is shining wherever you are!

Hello Everyone

Apologies for not posting a blog last week but we have been very busy!  We are moving house this weekend only a few miles from where we live but there is, of course, a lot of work to do moving.  We hope this is the last move for a very long time as we have moved house once this year already, moved the salon premises and moved Morag's mummy too so this house move makes the fourth move for this year!

We are thrilled with our new house and Daisy takes it all in her stride.  Unfortunately, Martini doesn't deal well with moving so we are prepared for the next couple of weeks with him sitting on the stairs and crying in the new house.  He is frightened of the boxes and keeps leaving his food but he will come round when he realises how cosy we will be.  We have posted a photo of Martini and Daisy sitting at the top of the stairs last night looking confused - furniture from the upstairs had been taken downstairs.

We thought we would a blog today as tomorrow more things are moving and we might not have our internet connected until this coming Thursday.  If we remember to take our laptop to the salon then our neighbour James always lets us use his broadband - thank you James!

The Olympics started last night but unfortunately we haven't seen any of the events yet but once we are snug in our new home in the next couple of days then we will have time to watch.  Hope you are enjoying the Olympics wherever you are in the world.

Hello Everyone

We have been enjoying the sunnier weather here in Cumbria this week and today, although it was sunny, it was definitely a bit cooler especially in the wind.  The salon has had a busy week which means Martini has missed out on his hair cut not that he minds of course!  Daisy had a couple of days where she felt a bit under the weather but she has perked up again and back to her usual self.  Poppy, who is Martini's friend from dog club, came for her hair cut.  Poppy  walks 4 and a half miles to the salon and home again and it was lovely to see her again.

We would like to remind everyone about the free sitting with photographer Joanne Caffrey which will be held on Saturday, 1 September.  You can enjoy a free 30 minute sitting for portraits of yourself, dogs, children or any combination.  It is essential to book these slots in advance and a few bookings have already been taken. Bookings can be made through the salon.

We have posted a photo of Martini and Daisy making themselves at home on Morag's bed - Martini went for a spot with pillows and Daisy was rolling around and, as you can see, they were caught in the act!

Hello Everyone

We had been very much looking forward to having a stand at Skelton Show with Joanne Caffrey Photography and Furry Tails Kennels but, unfortunately, the show was cancelled yesterday due to the extreme amount of rain we have had here in Cumbria recently.  As we had taken no bookings for yesterday at the salon, we decided to go and visit Morag's mummy in York for the day instead.  It seems a bit crazy to be checking the weather forecasts, road and traffic incident websites in July but we did just in case because we didn't want to get caught up in flash floods.  However, we left Cumbria in sunshine, had t-shirt weather all day and came back to Cumbria in sunshine so all-in-all we had a lovely day out.  We all kept thinking it was Sunday because we never get the chance to go on Saturdays.

A haircut is definitely on the cards for Martini this week as Morag's mummy said he looked like a sheepskin rug lying on the carpet!  Martini and Daisy love to visit their "Grandma" and had a lovely time lying in the sun in the garden.  Before we knew it, it was time to come back home and we must say that the sky (heading west in Cumbria) was very unusual around 9pm last night and we wondered if anyone else had noticed - there were unusual cloud patterns and we had wished we had been able to photograph it.

We have posted a photo of Martini today sitting next to one of our flower pots (he is looking a bit fluffy).

We hope you all had a lovely weekend!

1 July 2012 - Yappy Birthday Daisy

Hello Everyone

Today is a special day as it's Daisy's Yappy Birthday!  Daisy is 7 years old today and for her birthday she is having Jamie Oliver's special sausages as her birthday treat!  Daisy is very food orientated so sausages will be her ideal present and she is going to have some more served up for supper tonight.  We love our Oopsy Daisy and can't believe she is 7 years old already!

If you are reading this and live in Cumbria, you will know how much rain we have had in the past couple of weeks!  We even had no internet access (as we use mobile broadband) and couldn't update our Facebook page either.  All this seems to have been a result of the bad weather as a some of our of clients using a certain mobile phone provider have had no mobile phone signal as a mobile mast is down and its our internet provider too!  Our neighbour at the salon, Cumbria Computer Consultants, has let us use their broadband during the day when we are at the salon so a big bow wow thanks goes to them.  Let's hope we get a bit of sunshine soon because next weekend we have a stand at Skelton Show along with Joanne Caffrey Photography and Furry Tails Kennels.  We will be crossing everything the show still goes ahead (and there is lots of sunshine) as we have been looking forward to it for quite a while.  If all is well and Skelton Show goes ahead, we hope to see you there!

As it is Oopsy Daisy's special day, we have posted a photo of her which was taken by Joanne Caffrey Photography at our K9 Capers Day a couple of weeks ago.  We think its a lovely photo and thanks goes to Joanne for managing to get a good photo of our camera-shy Daisy!

Hello Everyone

Today is the day after K9 Capers Day!  We managed to raise £80 for Matching Partners Canine Rescue and, although we were hoping for more, Matching Partners are thrilled with £80.  Unfortunately we had non-stop rain all day so the turn out was less than expected but a big THANK YOU to those who did attend the day and made it all worthwhile.

All the winners in the raffle have already been contacted and thank you to everyone who bought a ticket.  The winner of the Guess the Name competition was little Ruby (Yorkie).  Meg (Westie) won the fancy dress competition for the girls and Cooper (JRT) won for the boys.    Thank you also goes to Maureen who judged the K9 Fancy Dress competition and gave up her afternoon.

A very special thank you goes to Joanne Caffrey who, not only agreed to photograph the winners of the competition, stayed all day to take photos!  As those of you who follow this blog know, it is always hard to get photos of our little Daisy dog but today we can post a gorgeous photo of Oopsy Daisy taken by Joanne (www.joannecaffreyphotography.co.uk).  Usually we have to take photos of Daisy when she isn't looking but Joanne managed to get a great photo of Daisy in action and, you guessed it, there was a treat involved!  You can also see some of Joanne's work on the Pawtraits page of our website www.doggydoos.org where you find a link through to Joanne's own website too.  We will be hosting another free portrait sitting with Joanne at the salon on Saturday, 1st September 2012.  Booking is essential and can be done through the salon on 07785 536088 to reserve a time slot.

Hello Everyone

It has been a short week but a very busy week as a result of the Jubilee Celebrations.  Our K9 Capers Day has sneaked up on us as it will be held this coming Saturday, 16 June 2012.  It always seemed to be a long way off from deciding on the date and what we would be doing but it has come around pretty quickly after all.  There will be a K9 Fancy Dress Competition at 2pm with a "toys and treats" gift basket for the best boy and best girl, a raffle jam packed with lots of prizes, a K9 bring and buy table and (fingers crossed) homemade cakes for sale.  We have 3 people who have volunteered to bake but hopefully we will have more than 3 cakes for sale on the actual day.  All the money raised on the day goes the Matching Partners Canine Rescue which helps to pay vet bills etc so we hope you can come along, enjoy the day and help us raise some funds for the rescue.

Today we went to York to help Morag's mummy with her garden.  On the way home, Morag couldn't resist taking this photo of Martini and Daisy - Daisy has always tried to cuddle up with Martini but Martini doesn't like it and always moves away but today he actually cuddled into Daisy - it has been nearly 3 years since Daisy came to join our family and this is the first time Martini has done this!

3 June 2012 - Jubilee Weekend

Hello Everyone

If you are in the UK we hope you are enjoying the Jubilee Weekend and we still have two more days to go.  The weather in Cumbria today has been a lot cooler than it has been for the last few weeks but at least the rain has stayed away.  We watched a bit of the Jubilee Pageant from the Thames on TV this afternoon and sadly it is raining in London but the people still seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Yesterday we had a free portrait sitting with photographer Joanne Caffrey.  Several people came along bringing their dogs and children for photos and all the dogs and children were very well behaved.  Joanne showed us a few photos from each sitting and they look really good and we can't wait to see the finished photos!

Only 2 weeks until K9 Capers Day on 16 June 2012 and we are really looking forward to it.  Hopefully, there will be a few entries in the K9 fancy dress competition and don't forget there are gift baskets for the best boy and best girl entries.  We are also hoping for some donations to the "bring and buy table".  There is a raffle with great prizes and all the proceeds from the day go to Matching Partners Canine Rescue.  If you would like to bake a cake for sale please feel free - we definitely have one volunteer but we were hoping for more than one cake for sale!

Today we have had a very lazy day after a very busy week and have walked locally.  We have posted a photo of Martini and Daisy wandering into a field a short distance from our house; the advantage of living in a rural area is there are lots of interesting smells - if you are a dog of course!

Hello Everyone

If you are reading this in Cumbria, you will know we have had wall-to-wall sunshine all week with very warm temperatures.  Martini and Daisy are struggling during the day and don't really want to venture too far on a walk so we are keeping the walks short and sweet.  We have had a very busy week at the salon with a high demand for very short haircuts.

We have posted a photo of Mo and Daisy today because yesterday Mo had to wait a little while for her haircut and decided that she would really like to wait in Martini's bed.  She just stood and stared at him and once he got up she just jumped right in with Martini having to go and sit on the chair by the door.  Mo and Daisy have one tooth between them (Daisy has just the one tooth) and they look so sweet together with their tongues hanging out to one side - bless them both.

There will be a free photo sitting this coming Saturday with Joanne Caffrey.  In order to have the free sitting it is necessary to book in advance to avoid having to wait.  There are still a few spaces left from 4pm so if you were thinking of having your own portrait done or your dog photographed (or both of you together) the booking can be made through the salon.

Hello Everyone

We didn't write a blog last week as we were away on Sunday and Monday at Morag's mummy's new house in York.  We all had a lovely time and of course Martini and Daisy were thoroughly spoiled by their Grandma.  Tuesday was busy at the salon and Morag attended a Canine Awareness First Aid Course on Tuesday evening so Martini and Daisy went to a babysitter for the evening.  Morag really enjoyed the first aid course and found it not only very informative but it was really enjoyable and conducted in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  She even had a go at CPR on a pretend dog called Casper and now drives Martini and Daisy nuts by checking their heart beat and pulse (just to make sure they are ok of course).

We would like to thank Joanne Caffrey for taking the new photos for our website www.doggydoos.org and we have posted a photo from the Poodle Maps page today which features Martini and Daisy.   We think the photos are fantastic and a big thank you to Ruby, Daisy, Rocky, Bess and Lola (Cavaliers) for taking the time on a Saturday to come along and have their photos taken... there were biscuits involved of course because it is hard to pose on an empty stomach!

The weather here in Cumbria is very cold and windy today.  We have been out for a walk up the road this afternoon but nearly got blown away and poor Martini can't see where he is going if it is too windy - the hazard of being a very fluffy pooch!  Hope the weather is better where you are!

A date for your diary: K9 Capers Day will be held on 16 June 2012 between 11am and 4pm.  There will be a K9 fancy dress competition at 2pm and the prizes are gift baskets for the best boy and best girl.  We will have a "bring and buy" table and a raffle (there are fantastic prizes to be won) and all proceeds will go to Matching Partners Canine Rescue.  We are also hoping to have home made baking available to buy and we have one person who has volunteered to bake a cake so far.  If you would like to bake something for the cake sale then let us know.  It should be a great day so hope you can make it.

Hello Everyone

Doesn't time fly - a year ago today we had our Royal Wedding!  If you are in Cumbria today you will know what the weather has been like... freezing cold, windy and very heavy rain this afternoon.  As a result, we hid at home and didn't go anywhere for a special walk.  Although we were out a couple of times this morning for a local walk, we didn't take any photos so we have posted a photo taken recently of Martini in the driving seat of our car, Noddy, outside the salon.  Martini has worked out how to use the hooter which is very naughty indeed.

We would like to say a couple of Yappy Birthdays.  First of all, Frankie will be a whole one year old on Tuesday - Yappy Birthday Frankie - and our dear friend Maureen will also be celebrating her birthday on Tuesday but we better not mention how old she will be or we will be in trouble!

We would like to say a big BOW WOW thank you to Joanne Caffrey Photography for coming along yesterday and taking photos so that we can update our website www.doggydoos.org with photos of our new salon.  We really appreciate all her hard work and also thanks to Simon and Gemma for bringing along their 6  Cavaliers (Poppy, Daisy, Rocky, Ruby, Lola and Bess), Carol for bringing Honey, and Jodie for bringing Ruby who will all be in the new photos.  Joanne took so many great photos it will be hard to choose just a few for the website.  We can highly recommend Joanne for any event you need photographed from weddings and civil ceremonies to canine portraits, family portraits, blessings, christenings etc.

Hello Everyone

We have had a couple of birthday's this week so we would like to say Yappy Birthday to Nemo for her birthday on Tuesday and a Yappy Birthday to Indiana Jones who had his birthday on Friday.  Both Nemo and Indiana were a whole one year old on their special days!

We had a busy week at the salon so today we decided to stay at home and just walk locally.  Although the weather was slightly changeable, we managed to go for our walks in lovely sunshine.  Today, we have posted a photo of Martini sniffing our neighbour's beautiful daffodils!

The salon will be closed this week on Thursday (26 April) and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused but Thursday is the day Morag's mummy is moving house so we are all going to help.

15 April 2012

Hello Everyone

We have had a busy day today.  We went to York this morning to help Morag's mummy with her move.  We must be experts in moving as we have moved house, moved salon and now helping Morag's mummy with her move makes it three moves this year and it is still only April!  As you know, Martini loves looking out of the window and there are lovely big windows at the new house for him to keep his eye on his Grandma's neighbours!  We think Martini must have been a meerkat in a previous life as he loves keeping a look out.  Martini and Daisy were very well behaved all day and they even got a "doggy bag" of lovely roast chicken from their Grandma to bring home.  We were lucky enough to have lovely weather all day, although in the wind it was a bit nippy, and Martini and Daisy managed to enjoy the garden at the new house too.  We have posted a photo of the three of us outside the new house taking a quick break.

As it has been school holidays here in the UK, the Lake District has had many visitors over the past two weeks.  We hope everyone enjoyed our lovely scenery and, more importantly, we wish them a safe trip home!

9 April 2012 - Yappy Easter

Yappy Easter Everyone!

We hope you are enjoying your Easter weekend wherever you are!  We had a busy day on Saturday at the salon but are enjoying an extra day off this week.

On Good Friday we went to help Morag's mummy in York - she will be moving soon so we were keen to help because, of course, we have moved twice this year alone and have had plenty of practice.  Martini and Daisy were very well behaved and wanted to help.  Daisy helped the most by rolling around in the curtains we were trying to hang in the new house but it is one of her favourite things to do and she probably thought we had put them on the floor just for her amusement.

A couple of dates for your diary - we will be hosting a Canine First Aid Course at the salon on Saturday 28th April 1pm - 4pm @ £30pp (includes light refreshment) and the course covers CPR, vital signs, bleeding, heat stroke etc.  Our special day this year will be held on Saturday 16th June from 11am to 4pm - the day is called K9 Capers 2012 and there will be a canine fancy dress competition with prizes for the best boy and best girl, raffle and a canine bring and buy table - we hope you will be able to come along (competition will be held at 2pm) with profits going to Matching Partners Canine Rescue.

You can follow us on Facebook too which has all the latest updates; the name of the page is - Doggy Doos Dog Grooming Salon - we take photos daily of who came along to have their hair done that day.

We have posted an indoor photo today as it started raining yesterday when we went for our walk. Martini and Daisy look like two little Easter bunnies with our Easter cards.

Hello Everyone

We have had a very quiet day today with no special walk as Daisy has been ill for most of the day.  We did go and visit our friends at the farm later in the afternoon when Daisy seemed better and she loves the farm so it cheered her up a bit.  We would like to wish Fluffy the farm cat a very yappy 16th birthday today - Fluffy is responsible for making sure Martini and Daisy treat cats with the respect they deserve as she operates a zero tolerance approach.  As we don't have a photo from our walk today, we have posted a photo of Martini and Charlie.  Charlie lives on the premises where the new salon is located and he is a real little character.  Charlie always comes running when we arrive and looks for Martini for a bit of playtime.

We had a very busy week at the salon and finished all the decorating.  We closed the salon for two days on Monday and Tuesday to make sure everything was finished on time.  It was hard work but really worth it as the salon looks so much brighter now and we are very pleased with the results.  We will take photos for our website www.doggydoos.org so the photos are up-to-date because our website still shows photos from the previous premises.

After a lovely week of wall to wall warm sunshine in Cumbria it  turned a little bit nippy but we do hope you have had good weather wherever you are too.

We hope you weren't tricked on April Fool's Day!

Hello Everyone

We are writing this on Monday morning as we got home quite late last night from York visiting Morag's mummy.  We all had a great day out with wall to wall sunshine again.  We have posted a photo of Martini and Daisy having a little rest when we went for a little walk in the sunshine.

The decorating at the salon is nearly complete but the salon will be closed today (26th) and tomorrow (27th) so the final touches can be done.  Everything has to be moved so the flooring can be laid, hence it is easier to close for a couple of days instead of trying to work around it.  The rest of the week is pretty busy although there are a few appointments left if you need to book.

A date for your diary; this year we will be having an event on 16th June which will be a K9 Fancy Dress competition called K9 Capers.  We are also planning a "bring and buy" table to raise funds for a local charity called Matching Partners Canine Rescue (you can find them on Facebook).  We have already been given our first item for the table and the salon will also donate new items for the sale.  For local readers, if you have any spare items like leads, bowls etc in your "dog cupboard" which are no longer of use to you, please feel free to donate them.  If any items are not sold, then the remaining items will be donated along with any cash raised.  Your support will be greatly appreciated!

Are you interested attending in a Canine First Aid Course?  As long as we have 10 people attending, we can hold a course at the salon - the course covers CPR, vital sign, bleeding, fractures, poisoning etc and costs £30 per person (which is excellent value for money and could prove invaluable).  If you are interested, please contact the salon (07785 536088) for further details.

We hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!

Hello Everyone

It is Mother's Day here in the UK today so we would like to wish Morag's mummy a very Happy Mother's Day!

We have had wall to wall sunshine today here in Cumbria although we did see a dusting of snow on the tops of the Northern Fells which must have been put there yesterday afternoon.  We did have a couple of really nice walks in the sunshine but we spent a few hours painting the new salon - "we" means Morag painted and Martini and Daisy watched and slept through most of the hard work!  It looks like the very large wall which was painted a dark grey colour is going to take three coats to cover!

We ordered the new poodles for the front doors of the salon and instead of getting black poodles (which were on the doors of our previous premises) we have opted for the colour which matches our salon sign - the colour is, apparently, called saffron but we think they look better.  Today we have posted a photo of our new poodles with Martini and Daisy posing too.  All in all, the decorating work is progressing and we hope to have everything completely finished before Easter.

Hello Everyone

Today we travelled to York to visit Morag's mummy as it is her birthday today.  We have posted a photo of Morag's mummy with Daisy and Martini who just love their Grandma so a big Yappy Birthday and many happy returns!  A big Yappy Birthday also goes to Macauley who is 12 years old today!

We have had a lovely day in York and it made a lovely change for the sun to be shining and it was warm enough just for a T-shirt.  The weather seemed really nice in Cumbria this morning before we left and, as usual, it was very foggy near Stainmore on the A66 on our drive home.

It has been a very busy week at the salon.  Daisy had her haircut on Thursday with the intention of giving Martini a long overdue hair cut too.  Unfortunately, we ran out of time on Saturday so Martini looks like a very fluffy rug at the moment - there will be no escape this week though and a hair cut is on the cards for Martini.

We hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.

Hello Everyone

We have posted a photo taken at 9am near Keswick in the Lake District as it had been snowing in the morning.  The weather here in Cumbria has been a real mixed bag over the last few days with almost T-shirt weather on Friday!

The salon has been busy this week and we did manage to give the place a fresh coat of paint on Monday (in a fetching shade of magnolia) but we have decided to re-paint it in white just as soon as we have a couple of free days together.  Today we went as far as Gateshead to buy blinds for all the windows and we have also ordered new "poodles" for the double doors at the front, although this time they will appear in a colour called saffron and not black as they were at the Mealsgate salon.  It all seems a lot of work but little by little all the jobs are being done - the biggest job will be to paint the floor which will have to be done in two or three sections over a few days.  Hopefully, we will have new photos for the website very soon as it still has photos of the Mealsgate salon..

We would like to wish Macauley's mummy a very Yappy Birthday for today - she did tell us how old she was going to be but we feel it is more polite to keep that information to ourselves.  Honey (Labradoodle) was three years old yesterday - Honey came to the salon yesterday for a birthday bath and we posted a photo of Honey on our Facebook page which you can get to via the website www.doggydoos.org - so big Yappy Birthday to Honey from the three of us!

We went for a walk a little while ago in the sunshine but it was so very cold we decided to cut our walk short and come back to our nice warm house - mainly because Morag's fingers were nearly falling off!

Hello Everyone

We are back home again after house-sitting for our friends during the last week at a lovely house near Cockermouth.  We looked after 3 dogs, 3 cats and lots of chickens - Martini and Daisy got on well with the other dogs and cats but really wanted to get a lot closer to the chickens.  Fortunately, our lessons at dog club have really paid off and they could be stopped from chasing with one word "wait" and they just stand still!  We definitely wanted to keep the head count absolutely correct for the family coming home from their skiing trip!  We had a fabulous time and had lots of fun but it was a busy week with the salon too.  We haven't been anywhere special today for a walk as we were catching up on our housework and washing but we have posted a photo of Martini on one of our little walks from the house on our quiet road. We are so lucky to live on such a nice quiet road as it means Martini and Daisy can be off their leads more - which they obviously enjoy.

This week we hope to start painting at the salon just to smarten the place up a bit and hopefully, it won't take too long to do.  There are always so many things to move around when painting but the new salon has a lot more windows than before which means less walls to paint!
